There are a few sources of technology information and training at the district. If a few moments with a helpful colleague isn't sufficient, please try the resources described below.
Professional Development Offerings
All PCS staff have access to Avatar, a web-based application to help you learn about and register for scheduled professional development classes and selected online courses. Some of these offerings are related to using district technologies.
You can find the link to the Avatar website on page on the “Teacher Links” page on this website.
Sign into Avatar using the same username and password that you use to log onto a district Windows computer. Click on “Course Catalog” in the left navigation pane to see options to view all courses or those being held soon. You can register for a course by selecting it, adding it to your “basket,” and then checking out. Be sure to get prior approval from your supervisor before registering for professional development.
Online Self-Help Resources
You can find online technology help on the PCS IT University web site. This site includes documents, videos and links to websites, all created to help staff use a variety of district technologies. You can find the link to this site on the “Teacher Links” page, as well.
Once you have entered this site, click on one of the technologies listed in the left navigation pane to see what resources are available.
Technology Help Desk
If you don’t find what you are looking for in Avatar or on the IT University site, please contact the Technology Help Desk and explain what you are seeking and when you need it. The Help Desk staff may be able to give you the guidance and explanations that will resolve your immediate issue. If more extensive or specialized training is needed, they will search for other resources for you.
